(HELTONVILLE) - A faulty fan is possibly the cause of a blaze that destroyed a Heltonville home Wednesday afternoon.
Pleasant Run VFD Chief Steve Nolan says the fire destroyed the wooden home owned by Brain and Tina Smith. The couple were remodeling the home and no one was living in the home when the fire started.
Nolan and the state fire marshal were at the scene Thursday morning shifting through the rubble to determine what ignited the blaze.
"We know it is electrical in nature and we know they had a box fan running in the living room area of the home," Nolan says. "We know that was the origin of the fire."
