(HELTONVILLE) - Four Volunteer Fire Departments battled a blaze Wednesday afternoon on Bartlettsville Road.
Pleasant Run VFD Chief Steve Nolan says the fire destroyed the wooden home owned by Brian and Tina Smith.
Nolan says the family was not living in the home.
"The home has been in their family for years and they were working on fixing it up," Nolan added.
The fire was reported just after 3 p.m., a bad time for volunteer firefighters.
"Firefighters are either at work, coming home from work or on their way to work," Nolan says. "But we were able to get there and get the fire knocked down."
Firefighters from Pleasant Run and Marshal were the first on the scene.
"Then we called on firefighters from Shawswick and Guthrie to bring their tankers," Nolan added.
The US Forest Service also responded with an engine. TOPES also responded to the scene.
Firefighters were on the scene for several hours.
"It was an older wooden home and we wanted to make sure it was completely out before we left the scene," Nolan says.
No one was hurt while battling the blaze and the cause is still under investigation.
Nolan will meet with the state fire marshal this morning at 9 a.m. to shift through the rubble to determine what might have ignited the blaze.
