(SALEM) - An outstanding example of historic preservation will be prominent in southern Indiana on Sept. 14.
That's when the Friends of Beck's Mill will be hosting The Grind 10K Run/Walk at the mill.
The early registration fee, if paid by Friday, is $22. After Friday and on race day, the fee is $27. Registration can be completed by visiting mag7raceseries.com.
Beck's Mill, a nearly 150-year-old structure, is southwest of Salem and had been rapidly deteriorating.
Following a push by members of an Awareness Washington County leadership class and an offer by Bloomington philanthropists Bill and Gayle Cook to pay for the restoration, the once-endangered mill again became operational in 2008 and continues to attract tourists.
