(BLOOMFIELD) - A Linton man has been charged with strangulation and battery resulting in bodily injury Monday in Greene County Superior Court.
43-year-old Christopher Crego was arrested September 17 after a woman went to the Linton Police Department and told an officer she had been battered by her boyfriend. The two were arguing about going out to eat.
The woman told police Crigo pushed her and was yelling and calling her names and then pushed her down and started chocking her. She then started hitting him to make him let her go. She then got free, ran outside and got in her vehicle and headed to the police station.
Crigo told police he was upset because his girlfriend never wanted to do what he wanted to do and that she started the fight after punching him twice in the face.
Police say the woman had marks on her neck from where Crigo allegedly strangled her and Crigo had no marks.
Crigo was arrested and was released after posting bond.
During the hearing he was appointed a public defender and was ordered to have no contact with the woman.
