(MITCHELL) - A Blackwell Trucking driver suffered minor injuries Monday morning after the dump truck he was driving overturned.
According to a Lawrence County Police, shortly after 8 a.m. officers received a call reporting the accident on Mill Creek Road.
The driver, 51-year-old Bernard Kleeman, of Ellettsville, was traveling east on Mill Creek Road and was attempting to turn into Lehigh Trucking when his load of sand shifted causing the 2002 International dump truck to overturn into the left lane of traffic, dumping his load.
Lawrence County Emergency Management Director Valerie Luchauer says oil and gasoline were leaking from the vehicle. The sand that was dumped on the roadway when the dump truck overturned absorbed the leaking fluids.
Kleeman suffered an injury to his hand and wrist, and was taken by a Rural Metro ambulance to the hospital for treatment.
Marion Volunteer Fire Department assisted on the scene.
