(BLOOMINGTON) - The Bloomington Police Department and Department of Child Services is investigating the molestation of a 12-year-old girl.
The girl's mother told police that a 50-year-old man, who was a family friend, had molested her daughter on numerous occasions since she was 4-years-old.
Bloomington Police Department Sgt. Joe Crider says the girl did not come forward and report the crime because the man had threatened to harm her if she told anyone.
The girl was interviewed Tuesday at Susie's Place, a child advocacy center.
The incidents happened at a home on the east side of Bloomington, once on the south side of the county and once on the IU campus.
The girl finally told her mother, after the man no longer came around the family.
Crider says the investigation continues and once the man is found he will be arrested.
