MITCHELL) - The United Way of South Central Indiana has about 60 volunteers who are looking to work and help others during the annual Day of Caring in Mitchell on Sept. 14.
But, now, the United Way needs projects for volunteers to work on during thecleanup. Projects can include assisting a local nonprofit by painting, cleaning or sorting, or projects can focus on helping elderly residents who find it difficult to work in their yard or clean up around their property.
Volunteers will come on Sept. 14 and do minor clean-up work or other tasks.
Three years ago, the United Way began a Mitchell Day of Caring in September to get the city spruced up and ready for the festival.
Anyone who wants to volunteer during the event, conducted from 8 a.m. to noon, or those who want to pitch a project idea are invited to call the United Way office at 278-8613 to be added to the list.
