(BEDFORD) - Fall Break is now and if children need a fun activity they should visit the Bedford Public Library
Spooky Science with Amanda is today from 2-3 p.m. It begins a week of activities.
Spooky Science includes a scary story with spooky science magic special effects. Children from kindergarten and up can expect bubbling and fizzing, along with things floating and squirming. Children will get "slime" to take home.
On Tuesday, learn about an exotic land when Jamie Bue presents a program on the culture and customs of Tibet from 3-4 p.m. Along with learning about a foreign land, children from third grade and up will enjoy a story and craft.
Board Game Tournament is Oct. 17, from 1-3 p.m. in children services. All ages can play for prizes.
Contest winners
Winners in the "Oh, The Places You'll Go" contest are: Lucas Wright, 9; Layla Fischer, 11; Kolten Branaman, 16; and Jacob Bair, 12, all of Bedford. Each winner receives a copy of the book "Sea of Monsters" by Rick Riordan.
Winners in the library scavenger hunt are: Alison Sullivan, 8; Heidi Marie Dufore, 10; Laura Turner, 12; Holly Sanders, 14; and Jesse Lane, 15, all of Bedford. Each winner gets to choose a new book.
Winners in the first round of the breast cancer awareness coloring contest, co-sponsored by Lawrence County Cancer Patient Services, are: Alissa Evans, 9; Hannah Byford, 9; Ethan Asbury, 6; Serena Watson, 10; Gracie Gott, 7; Dax Bastin, 5; Darcy Abel, 7; Issy Shew, 9; and Gracey Dearborn, 7. Winners received gift bags filled with age-appropriate prizes, including books, DVDs, balls and other items.
A second round of the contest continues with a new coloring page through October. Previous winners are not eligible for the second round.
