(BEDFORD) - Bedford police arrested a 18-year-old Bedford teen Tuesday morning after they found him lying in some bushes.
According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley officers were on another call in the 800 block of 13th Street when they started hearing someone yelling.
"When they finished with the call they were on they went to investigate where the yelling was coming from," Parsley says. "They rounded the corner and didn't see anyone."
Parsley says officers were looking around when they started smelling the odor of alcohol.
"Then the bushes began moving," he added. "In the bushes they found Dylan Todd."
Todd was pinned between the bushes and the building.
"Officers asked him to come out of the bushes and that is when he told them he had too much to drink and couldn't get up," Parsley says. "Officers helped him out of the bushes and told him he was under arrest for public intoxication."
That is when Todd began struggling with officers when they went to put handcuffs on him.
"Mr. Todd told the officers he had drunk about a gallon of vodka," Parsley says. "Mr. Todd had several bruises and scratches from falling into the bushes and because of his high-level of intoxication was taken to IU Health Hospital for a medical evaluation."
After being released from the hospital Todd was taken to jail on charges of public intoxication, illegal consumption, resisting arrest by force and possession of tobacco products and alcohol.
