(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington police arrested 22-year-old Benjamin Warman on a charge of criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, after he discharged a gun in his apartment in the 3100 block of Acadia Court Monday afternoon.
According to Bloomington Police Sgt. Joe Crider, Warman was intoxicated and disassembling the gun when a bullet went through the apartment wall into a neighbor's unit.
Police found three bullet holes in the walls of the apartment.
According to police, on Oct. 23 Warman was handling a spring-filled .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun, showing his roommate how to take it apart when the gun discharged.
The bullet traveled through the adjoining wall of the two apartments, then through the neighbor's shower wall and lodged into the neighbor's bathroom door. A .45 caliber slug was found in the door.
The roommate told police that he and Warman were scared after the incident and therefore did not contact police or check on their neighbors. Warman told police he was intoxicated at the time and didn't remember what happened.
The gun was found in Warman's apartment and seized by police.
