(SALEM) - Cornucopia Farm invites the public to their Kids’ Weekend this Saturday, Oct. 5, and Sunday, Oct. 6.
The First Cornucopia Farm Great Pumpkin Hunt will debut on Saturday and Sunday afternoons at 2 p.m. Kids ages 3-12 are invited to participate. Cornucopia Farm will provide pumpkin bags to collect the specially marked pumpkins from a designated area on the farm. Several prizes will be awarded. General admission is required to participate.
Cornucopia Farm will be giving Cornucopia Farm coins to all kids (3-12), to allow them to purchase something at The Pumpkin Shed. Free pumpkin painting will be available. Also, kids may participate in a pumpkin seed spitting contest at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. both days. Sand art in a pumpkin will be another featured activity for Kids' Weekend.
The usual kids' activities will be in full swing, including the soybean maze featuring a tractor design. A kid favorite, this maze is just right for kids to make their own way through. Mazers find six signs hidden in the soybean field trails that feature six different pieces of equipment used at harvest time.
New this year is a Kids' Fishing Hole where kids can catch and release (toy) fish. The petting farm, the straw house, the tunnel slide, the hillside slide and the corn box all have kids (and adults) discussing what is their favorite. Kids and adults alike may visit the u-pick pumpkin patch where over 20 different varieties of pumpkins are grown on the farm.
Located halfway between Salem and Scottsburg, Cornucopia Farm sits at 5444 N. Rutherford Hollow Rd. For more information, log on at www.cornucopiafarm.com or call (812) 752-6694.
