(PAYNETOWN) - Jump-start Halloween at Monroe Lake’s annual Ghostly Gathering, Oct. 25-26.
Ghostly Gathering is at Paynetown State Recreation Area, 4850 S. State Road 446, Bloomington.
Early arrivals on Friday, Oct. 25 can drop by the activity center shelter from 3 to 5 p.m. to paint a miniature pumpkin. That evening, a naturalist will rove the campground dispensing facts about nocturnal animals.
A campfire program, "Tall Tales and Not-Too-Scary Stories," is scheduled for 8 p.m. on Fridayat the activity center amphitheater.
On Saturday, a creepy crawly craft session will be offered from 1 to 3 p.m. at the activity center shelter. An all-ages costume contest starts at 4 p.m. at the same shelter.
Trick-or-treating at the campground is from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. During the same hours, visitors can check out the Halloween and harvest decorations at campsites and vote for their favorite one.
The event concludes Saturday night with the Ghostly Gathering Halloween Party from 8 to 9:30 p.m. at the activity center, featuring seasonal games, activities and refreshments.
Day visitors are welcome at all programs. Campsites are still available for the weekend, and reservations can be made at camp.IN.gov.
The entrance fee to Paynetown SRA is $5 per in-state vehicle or $7 per out-of-state vehicle.
