(MITCHELL) - The Holiday Drive-In in Mitchell did not win one of the 9 digital projectors in the Honda Motor Corporation contest.
But owner Steve Wilson wants to thank everyone for voting.
"We all worked very hard, but the bigger towns just had a bigger customer base and we came up short on votes," Wilson says. "But I want to thank my army of customers that tired to make getting the projector a reality for the drive-in...Thank you ...thank you ....thank you!"
But Wilson is not giving up hope and will continue to keep the drive-in open as long as he can.
The cost of new digital technology is putting a strain on drive-in theaters around the country. The digital projector costs $80,000; a price Wilson and other theater owners can't afford.
"I am going to keep my options open and we will see how things unfold," He added. "We are hoping to get in at least one more season."
