(SALEM) - 38-year-old Jason Clark, of Clarksville, was arrested Friday after he crashed his Jeep on intersection of State Road 60 and the bypass in Salem.
According to police, Clark's blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit. Clark also had his two small children in the vehicle.
The crash was reported just after 5 p.m. and the caller told police the vehicle involved had fled the scene.
Minutes later police stopped Clark. Police noticed the strong odor of alcohol and learned Clark did not have a driver's license. He was arrested and charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, owi with a prior conviction, owi with minor passengers and leaving the scene of an accident.
He was taken to the Washington County Jail. The children were released to their mother after being checked at a local hospital.
Smith told officers he had gone to a local tavern for a couple of beers following a meeting with his probation officer and before picking up his children for visitation.
