(BARTHOLOMEW CO.) - A Martinsville man was arrested Monday night, thanks to the awareness of an off-duty Bartholomew County Sheriff’s deputy.
Major Todd Noblitt, with the Bartholomew County Sheriff's Department, says Deputy Sgt. Jim Green, Jr. recognized a Chevy pickup truck, that was reported stolen over the weekend, in the area of U.S. 31 and State Road 7, with three people inside. After calling for backup, deputies pulled the vehicle over.
18-year-old James Purdue was arrested during the investigation. The truck and a pair of ATVs were determined to be stolen. Purdue's passengers were released. Investigators are trying to determine if Purdue was involved in any other theft cases.
