(BEDFORD) - Minal Patel was named the Lawrence County 2013-2014 Distinguished Young Woman Saturday night.
Patel, a senior at Mitchell High School, plans to attend Vanderbilt majoring in pre-med.
She was awarded $2,300. She also won category awards for self expression, fitness and the interview, each for $100.
The first runner-up was Eliza Endris, who also won category awards for self expression and fitness, totaling $1,300 in cash.
Jane Kittaka was the second runner-up and was honored with an award for creativity. She won $600.
Third runner-up, Carlee Tackett, also won a category award for creativity. She was awarded $400.
Sarah Shirley was named spirited distinguished young woman and won $250.
Other category award winners of $100 were Taylor Inman and Whitley Brock both won scholastic achievement and Madelyn Deckard for her interview with the judges.
