(BLOOMINGTON) - The parents of the 18-year-old student who died in her dorm room over the weekend have released a statement saying she died “in her sleep.”
The cause of Abigail Bott's death is still undetermined, according to the Monroe County coroner, but, in a statement released to Bott's former high school in Hinsdale, Ill., her parents said she "passed away in her sleep" Sunday.
Monroe County Coroner Nicole Meyer says no foul play is suspected in Bott's death.
18-year-old Bott, of Clarendon Hills, Illinois was found dead in her dorm room at McNutt Quad around 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Bott would have graduated from IU in 2017.
An autopsy was performed Monday morning.
Meyer says the preliminary cause of death was undetermined pending a toxicology results. It will take four to six weeks until those results are known.
Meyers says there was no evidence of trauma and because of that, officials don't believe foul play played a factor in her death.
