(BEDFORD) - SOAR! Executive Director, Adele Bowden-Purlee, announced the organization is currently accepting new adult students.
SOAR! offers tutoring in basic literacy, writing, English, and job skills. SOAR! recently worked with the Martin County SOAR Director to train three new volunteers, Graham Endris, Gale Sipes, and Pat Kruchten..
SOAR! volunteers work with adult students on a one-on-one basis. Volunteers teach basic instructions as well as training on iPads, enabling tutors to utilize the Scholastic Newsreaders' Storia program and various other online applications. A recent contribution from AT&T has enhanced SOAR's technology to include iPads and Pre-GED software.
SOAR! is free to adults who have not acquired basic reading and survival skills. All trainings are strictly confidential. SOAR! is a not-for-profit organization funded by tax deductible contributions from individuals, businesses and organizations. SOAR!'s mission is to provide adults in Lawrence County with the literacy skills needed to reach their full potential as individuals, parents, workers and citizens.
