(BLOOMINGTON) - Monroe County emergency crews are working at the scene of a train derailment in the 6100 block of East State Road 45 near Russell Road, northeast of Bloomington.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, the train consisting of 101 coal cars left the tracks around 2:00 a.m. Wednesday.
There were no injuries and no other vehicles were involved. Only six of cars actually left the tracks, so officials are hoping cleanup will present few issues.
The train cars knocked down three utility poles and more than 150 people are without power. Duke Energy says crews are on the scene and power should be restored by 10 a.m.
Police have State Road 45 closed from Russell Road to Earl Young Road.
Train inspectors are working to determine what caused the train to leave its tracks.
The train was traveling to Indianapolis from Carlyle.
