(BLOOMINGTON) - The Bloomington Police were called to IU Health Bloomington Hospital Monday night after a report of a sexual assault.
According to Bloomington Police Sgt. Joe Crider, a 21-year-old female reported she had left a downtown bar around 2 a.m. on Saturday and went to her apartment on the east side of town.
At about 4 a.m. she told police she awoke to find a man engaged in non-consensual sex with her.
The woman told police she knew the 22-year-old male that had assaulted her and that the two had exchanged text messages earlier on Saturday.
The woman told police she believes she may have been drugged because she does not remember anything about the events that happened after her first drink until about 4 a.m. Saturday.
Crider says the woman underwent a sexual assault examination Monday and the case remains under investigation.
