(WORTHINGTON) - Worthington and Switz City fire departments battled a blaze Saturday night at the Motel 67 on State Road 67 on the south edge of Worthington.
Worthington Fire Chief Kyle Steward says the fire caused heavy damage to one room of the motel and minor damage to two other rooms.
Firefighters were called to the motel at 8:55 p.m. and had the fire under control within five minutes.
Steward say no one was injured in the blaze or while fighting it.
A Greene County Ambulance Service crew was on the scene and checked out those occupying the rooms.
Steward says the fire started on the north end of the motel. Room number two sustained the most damage. Room number one and three had minor damage.
At the time of the fire, some residents of Worthington Senior Apartments were staying in the motel while their own apartments were being remodeled.
The Red Cross responded and as of late Saturday, the occupants of the damaged rooms had found a place to stay or been relocated to another room at the motel.
Steward says the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
