(SEYMOUR) - Five people from Jennings County were arrested Sunday for allegedly throwing eggs off the I-65 overpass onto County Road 700 North and at other locations in Seymour.
The Jackson County Sheriff's Office says 19-year-old Sean D. Maxwell and four juveniles, ages 13 to 17, were arrested on four counts of criminal mischief and one count of overpass mischief. One juvenile was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
Officials say when officers were on their way to the area, it was reported that a car had left the area at a high rate of speed traveling east on U.S. 31. They were unable to find the car at that time.
While officers were still in the area, Seymour Police received a report that some people were throwing eggs from the same car in the area of Community Drive near Seymour High School. There were two more reports of eggs being thrown from the car at Third and O'Brien Streets in Seymour and the vehicle was traveling going north.
Jackson County Reserve Officer Greg Murphy later found the car had returned to the area sitting in a farm lane just west of the overpass on County Road 700 North (Enos Road). Seymour Police arrived and found cartons of eggs inside the car along with drug paraphernalia.
Maxwell and the four juveniles were then arrested and charged.
