(BEDFORD) - The Wiley Art Center will host two special events during Lawrence County’s Festival of Lights weekend.
On Friday, December 6, the annual Holiday Show opens with a reception from 5 to 7 pm. Featuring work by members of the Lawrence County Art Association, this show is the perfect place to shop for artistic gifts including stained glass work, jewelry, hand-made cards, CDs, art prints, and paintings.
The Holiday Show will spotlight artists from Stone Belt ARC in their first Lawrence County exhibit. Much of the artwork is created with re-purposed and recycled yarn, wallpaper swatches, glitter, and other donated materials. These pieces are called mixed-media mosaics and have earned much acclaim from the Bloomington and Indiana University Community. Meet the artists at the reception on December 6.
After the Festival of Lights parade on December 7, Santa Claus will visit the Wiley Art Center to greet his admirers. This is the best Santa venue in town, and for the third year in a row, photographer Tara Jones (By the Glass Productions) will photograph children with Santa.
The Twelve Months of Christmas store on the east side of the square will stay open for the Santa event and will donate ten percent of the evening's sales to the Lawrence County Art Association.
The Wiley Art Center is located at 14th and J Streets in downtown Bedford. Hours are Thursdays and Fridays 1 to 6 pm and Saturdays 9 am to 1 pm. The gallery will close for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
