(JASONVILLE) - A Jasonville couple was arrested Thursday evening after Indiana State Police find meth lab trash and other correspondences along a county road in Sullivan County. Police asked for a search warrant of the couple’s home.
Police arrested 39-year-old Jamie Earl Poe, and his wife 43-year-old Peggy Sue Poe. On numerous drug charges including making meth.
According to a press release issued by the ISP, mid-morning on Thursday, a Sullivan County highway employee discovered a large amount of trash at the intersection of County Roads 500N and 500E in Sullivan County. The employee believed a portion of the trash was related to the making of meth and contacted police.
ISP Trooper Brent Robinson began an investigation with the assistance of Sullivan County Sheriff's Deputy Bill Snead and when they arrived on the scene of the dumped trash, they reported finding eight used one-pot meth labs labs that were not active, 11 former chemical reaction vessels and many precursors associated with the production of meth.
They also found mail correspondence. And went to Greene Superior Court to obtain a search warrant for the Poe's home at 509 South Washington Street.
Late Thursday afternoon, officers searched the home and found and active meth lab and various items from previously active meth labs, approximately one-half gram of meth, and a large amount of trash which they say indicated a substantial amount of meth was most likely produced in recent days.
The Poe's 11-year-old daughter was at the residence when officers arrived. She was put into the custody of Child Protective Services (CPS).
Besides Trooper Robinson, the lead investigator, and GCSD Deputy Snead, other ISP troopers from both the Bloomington and Putnamville posts assisted in the investigation along with personnel from the Sullivan County Sheriff's Department and the Sullivan County Prosecutor's Office.
The couple are facing charges of: Possession of meth -- a class D felony; possession/sale of precursors -- a class D felony; maintaining a common nuisance -- a class D felony; possession of paraphernalia -- a class A misdemeanor; dealing meth -- a class B felony; and dumping waste from controlled substances -- a class D felony.
They are being held without bond pending a court appearance.
