(LINTON) - When Linton police officer Chad Crynes arrived to a possible break-in in progress at North West F Street Wednesday evening, he found 24-year-old Graham Tackett, of Jasonville at the entrance of the home where it appeared the door had been kicked in.
Tackett was standing just inside the back door of the apartment with a piece of the doorjamb in his hand. Police say Tackett appeared to be trying to fix the back door which was damaged.
Tackett told police he had a key but could not get in because the door was chain-locked and that he was trying to get in the home to get his wallet he had left there the night before. Tackett told police he used his shoulder to break in the door.
Police contacted the resident of the apartment and she told police, Tackett did not live there and did not have permission to be at the apartment.
Police searched Tackett and found methadone in his pocket, which he did not have a prescription for.
Tackett was arrested and on Friday appeared in Greene Superior Court where he was charged with residential entry and possession of a controlled substance, both felony offenses.
