(FREETOWN) - A Jackson County man was arrested after police found in an unoccupied home in Freetown Monday morning.
18-year-old Lakota Snyder, of Seymour, was charged with burglary, resisting arrest and possession of stolen property.
According to Jackson County Sheriff Mike Carothers, around 2:40 a.m., someone saw a light moving around in a house on West Second Street.
When Deputy Jess Hutchinson approached the house, he saw Snyder go out the back door and into a shed behind the property. When police asked Snyder to stop, he ran fleeing north on Columbus Pike but was caught.
Officers found a gun that Snyder had thrown down when he ran. It was a black air-soft "toy" gun that looked like a Smith & Wesson handgun.
The property taken from the home was also recovered and returned to the homeowner.
