(BLOOMFIELD) - Five Bloomfield Naval Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps cadets and their commander were involved in a minor traffic accident Monday morning after serving as the color guard at the Eastern Greene High School Veteran’s Day Program.
The Greene County Daily World reports, the NJROTC cadets were traveling with Lt. Commander Michael Cluver in a vehicle that was westbound on Sylvania Road, about 8.5 miles east of Bloomfield when the 10:15 a.m. mishap occurred, according to a news release from Bloomfield SchoolSuperintendent Dan Sichting.
"The vehicle entered a series of curves and slid from the roadway, striking a fence and a telephone pole," Sichting commented.
The superintendent said the air bags in the vehicle deployed. All occupants were properly restrained with seat belts.
Lt. Commander Cluver and four cadets were checked by emergency personnel at the scene and no injuries were reported.
The remaining cadet was transported from the scene by a parent and later taken for examination by the school nurse. The cadet reported no injuries, according to Sichting.
The names of the cadets were not released by the school.
