(JASONVILLE) - A dog owner is being summoned into court after their pit bull bit a child.
Tristan R. Webb, of Jasonville, is scheduled to appear in Greene Superior Court in December for a hearing on the offense of harboring a non-immunized dog, a class B misdemeanor.
The Greene County Sheriff's Department received a call on October 19 from a man reporting his granddaughter had been bitten in the leg when she was at the neighbor's home.
The caller told police the child was at a home on County Road 800 north in Jasonville and was playing with the neighbors children. When the child jumped off the back deck the pit bull bit her on the right leg and her left calf.
The child had two cuts on the back of her right leg and a bruise on her left calf.
When police arrived, the dog was in a fenced pen and was not aggressive toward officers. Webb told police the seven-year-old pit bull was not neutered and had never had any vaccinations.
Police informed the owner that the animal is required by law to have a yearly rabies vaccination and Webb was issued a citation.
