(PAOLI) - Construction activities along U.S. 150 in Orange County continue to progress and motorists can see the work first hand.
Traffic has been shifted to temporary pavement just west of County Road 275. Motorists should also take note of the new 35 mile per hour posted speed limit in the area.
Contractor's crews opened the temporary runaround, 1.0 mile west of Paoli, to allow for the construction of a box culvert under the roadway. With the new alignment it was determined the speed limit would need to be reduced to allow motorists to traverse the roadway safely. Local law enforcement will be on site to monitor speed in the area.
The $5.2 million contract was awarded to Milestone Contractors, LP of Indianapolis in October of 2012. The overall project limits begin 5.25 miles east of the west junction of S.R. 56 junction to 0.14 miles east of C.R. 225W. Project construction includes resurfacing of the existing pavement, 10-foot paved shoulders, under drain improvements and new box drainage structures at multiple locations.
It is anticipated the restrictions will last through October 2014 with the overall project completion by the end of December 2014.
INDOT reminds motorists to follow the posted work zone speed limit, use caution and consider worker safety when traveling through a work zone. For the latest news and information about INDOT, please visit www.in.gov/indot or www.trafficwise.in.gov .
