(SEYMOUR) - The Indiana Department of Transportation will close U.S. Highway 50 next week at Seymour for emergency repairs at the CSX rail crossing—located between Walnut Street and Jefferson Avenue.
The east-west highway will close Wednesday morning (NOV. 20) at 7 a.m..
INDOT is hopeful replacement of a faulty track can be completed by Thursday night (NOV 21). Meanwhile, U.S. 50 will remain closed until work has been completed. If CSX maintenance crews complete rail repairs earlier than anticipated, INDOT will reopen the highway to traffic at that time.
A signed detour will be in place:
Eastbound U.S. 50 traffic routes south on Walnut Street, east on Bruce Street, north on Jefferson Avenue.
Westbound U.S. 50 detours on State Road 11/Broadway, west on S.R. 258/Sixth Street, south on Community Drive.
Oversized loads going eastbound will be detoured north on S.R. 135, east on S.R. 258, south on S.R. 11.
Oversized loads going westbound will be detoured north on S.R. 11, west on S.R. 258, south on S.R. 135.
