(BEDFORD) - A Bedford woman was injured after she was hit by a vehicle while she was attempting to pump gas Sunday afternoon.
According to a Bedford Police report, 51-year-old Debra Kern, of 1408 Trogen Lane, was at the Circle K gas station at 1428 16th Street when she was walking from the store to pump gas into her vehicle.
Kern was at the rear of her vehicle and was pumping gas when she was hit by a 1996 Ford Ranger that failed to stop, pinning her between her vehicle and the Ranger.
Police say 49-year-old Chris Hughes, of 1409 18th Street, was pulling up to the pumps and when he went to apply his brakes, the vehicle failed to stop, hitting Kern.
Hughes told police he had just had his brakes worked on and they had been working properly before the accident.
Kern complained of back pain. Hughes was not injured.
Blaire Dalton and another CNA from Garden Villa were on their break and at the scene when the accident happened. According to Dalton the two ran to Kern's aid and stayed with her until emergency crews arrived.
