(BEDFORD) - A Bedford firefighter was arrested after he was involved in a domestic dispute at his home Tuesday afternoon.
According to Bedford Assistant Police Chief Joe DeWees officers were called to a home in the 1700 block of G Street after receiving a 911 call about a domestic dispute with injuries.
"When officers arrived they discovered there had been a physical altercation and a woman had suffered some bruises," DeWees says.
They arrested 51-year-old Kevin Yeary, on a charge of domestic battery.
He was taken to the Lawrence County Jail and is still there this morning. A person who is arrested on a domestic battery charges must be held 24 hours before they can be post bond.
Yeary has been with the Bedford Fire Department for 26 years and serves as a lieutenant.
Bedford Fire Chief Jon Wagner says Yeary will be in his office as soon as he is released from jail.
"I have no comment at this time," Wagner says. "I expect him to be in my office this afternoon. I have been in contact with Police Chief Dennis Parsley and the mayor (Shawna Girgis) and the city attorney (Greg Pittman) and will meet with them when we have all the information about the incident."
