(SALEM) - The new Salem Walmart will be the largest store in Southern Indiana.
Salem Marketing Director Greg Fitzloff says the 151,000-square-foot Walmart Supercenter will be the length of two football fields.
Mayor David Bower says other retailers have expressed interest in locating in the shopping center next to Walmart.
Bower says that the new store will employ around 300 people, primarily part-time.
Randall Hake of Cedarwood Development says construction will begin on the 27-acre site off Hackberry Street and Kimball Drive in mid-2014. The store is expected to open in the fall of 2015.
