(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington has been recognized as a bike-friendly community for years, but for the first time, it recently received walk-friendly recognition.
The Herald Times reports that Walk Friendly Communities, which is an origination sponsored by FedEx and the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration, ranks cities on their commitment to pedestrian safety and walk ability as platinum, gold, silver or bronze.
It recently awarded the bronze status to Bloomington -- the only Indiana city currently ranked.
