(DUBOIS CO.) - Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating the death of a Dubois County man after a roll-over accident left his pick-up partially submerged in a creek.
According to Conservation Officers, 21-year-old Mitchell Haas, of Ferdinand, had left the home of Jerry Kern, north of Schnellville shortly before 3 p.m. Monday afternoon.
Shortly afterwards, Kern was traveling on Dubois County Road 175 S, when he discovered Haas's 1997 red Ford pick-up overturned on its cab and partially submerged in a creek that runs parallel to the roadway.
Kern called 911 and Haas was transported to the hospital in Jasper, but was pronounced dead of his injuries, around 7:25 p.m.
Conservation Officers say icy road conditions and alcoholic beverages may be factors in the accident. The exact cause of death is pending a toxicology report.
The accident remains under investigation.
