(BEDFORD) - Five people suffered minor injuries, after a two-vehicle collision Wednesday morning on State Road 450 West.
According to a Lawrence County Police report, the accident happened at 11:44 a.m. on State Road 450 West, about 1,000 feet east of Louie Smith Road.
17-year-old Kasondra L. Burris, of Vincennes, complained of chest pain. 36-year-old Kimberly Burris, of Williams, who was a passenger in Burris' vehicle also complained of chest pain.
Two other passengers, 17-year-old Tristan Porter and 16-year-old Chase Burris, both complained of neck pain.
The fifth person who was injured, was 3-year-old Carline Ward, of Williams, she was in a vehicle driven by 26-year-old Gregory Kendall II, of Williams. Carline complained of chest pain. Kendal was not injured.
According to Police Kendall was driving into a curve and had applied his brakes to slow down when his 1997 Toyota Corolla began to slide and went left of center crashing into Burris' vehicle which was approaching from the opposite direction.
According to police there was an oily substance on the roadway and that when it mixed with the rain it caused the road to be extremely slick. Police believe the substance was hydraulic fluid
Highway crews were called to apply sand to the road to soak up the substance.
