(UNDATED) - On Friday morning the crest on the White River was nearing Petersburg in southwest Indiana and the crest on the East Fork White River was between Bedford and Williams in south central Indiana.
Significant flooding in southern Indiana extended from Spencer to Mt. Carmel Illinois on the White River and from Tunnelton to Petersburg on the East Fork White River. Flood levels ranged from 4 to more than 10 feet above flood stage.
Extensive lowland flooding will continue along the lower Wabash River in the Mt. Carmel and New Harmony areas into the next year as flood waters from the White River continue to arrive. Flood crests of 3 to 5 feet above flood stage are expected by December 31.
Flood conditions along upstream locations of the Wabash...White and East Fork White Rivers in western and southern Indiana will continue to improve through all of next week. All flooding will end in southwest Indiana by January 3.
