(MONROE CO.) - Monroe County residents can receive emergency alerts and other important community news by signing up for the Monroe County Alert Program.
The system enables officials to provide residents critical information quickly in a variety of situations, such as tornado warnings, unexpected road closures, missing persons and evacuations of buildings or neighborhoods.
Messages can be received on your home, mobile or business phones or by email or text messages.
When signing up, people are asked to submit a user name, password and cell phone numbers. Users can add multiple locations so people can get alerts about events happening near their workplace, family's school or home.
People can sign up by going to: www.co.monroe.in.us and clicking on Citizen Alert notification sign up.
