(SALEM) - Last Friday’s sleet, followed by snow, left a Salem teen injured after a vehicle sled into her pinning her legs against a guard rail.
According to a Salem Police report, the accident involving two teens happened Saturday morning when the two were meeting at Elizabeth Street Park to sled.
According to police 14-year-old Haley Motsinger was already at the park and was sitting on the railing in the parking lot at the top of the hill awaiting the arrival of 17-year-old Adam Fisher. As Fisher pulled into the lot, he saw Motsinger and intended to park near her. But the lot was covered with ice and Fisher was unable to stop his vehicle. And Motsinger was unable to get out of the way and the truck, a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado, slid into her, pinning her leg against the guardrail.
Motsinger, whose legs were not broken was taken by ambulance to Kosair Children's Hospital for treatment.
Ironically, it was Fisher's father, Dr. Trent Fisher, who is in charge of clearing the parking lot. He had not yet had time to get to the parking lot to clear it before the accident happened.
