BPD Capt. Steve Gilbert Promoted To Major

(BEDFORD) - Bedford Police Captain Steve Gilbert has been promoted to Major.

Gilbert, the department's DARE officer has agreed to take on duties supervising students crossing 16th Street and O Streets.

Gilbert will replace Sherry Haley, who worked for 17 years as a school crossing guard and retired.

Chief Dennis Parsley says the move will save the city money because the city will not have to hire a civilian crossing guard.
