(WASHINGTON) - The Washington Fire Department battled a kitchen fire on Washington’s west side early Friday morning.
Firemen were called to the home at 2:43 am at 901 W. Main Street. The home is owned by Terry Cox, but was being rented by John Coy.
Washington Fire Chief Dave Rhoads says ten off-duty firemen were also called to help fight the fire.
Chief Rhoads says the fire which started in the kitchen area, shot flames through the roof. There was major damage to the structure and the home was not insured, Rhoads added.
Firefighters were on the scene until 7am.
