(BLOOMINGTON) - Today’s snowfall has caused treacherous travel conditions for southern Indiana. All roadways in the Bloomington District are snow covered slick and hazardous.
The Bloomington District serves Monroe, Morgan, Owen, Greene, Lawrence and Brown Counties.
Today, Bloomington troopers have responded to eleven vehicles slide-offs and three vehicle crashes. Troopers transported a number of motorists stranded along State and County Roads to local motels or service stations. The Bloomington District has dramatically increased patrols over the next 48-hours by cancelling trooper's days off and by utilizing administrative enforcement personnel.
Although the Bloomington District is not aware of any major road closings, motorists are strongly encouraged NOT to travel if at all possible.
The Indiana State Police are asking if you have plans to go out in the next 24-48 hours please rethink your trip. While the Indiana Department of Transportation has been working tirelessly and non-stop throughout this period, road conditions can deteriorate rapidly with the ever changing weather and wind.
