(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was arrested after police stopped him for a traffic violation Wednesday night and a police K-9 alerted officers of possible drugs in the vehicle.
According to Oolitic Deputy Marshal Bill Allen, Indiana State Police Trooper Shea Teague stopped the vehicle at 16th and B streets in Bedford.
Allen and his K-9 Shandi were called to the scene. There Shandi walked around the vehicle and alerted Allen that there was possible drugs in the vehicle. Officers found a white-powdery substance that field tested positive for meth.
25-year-old Steven Hawkins, of Freetown, was arrested and taken to the Lawrence County jail on a charge of possession of meth and maintaining a common nuisance.
