(MITCHELL) - The fast response of Mitchell High School maintenance employees saved floors at the High School Tuesday night after a sprinkler head froze and broke.
Superintendent Steve Phillips says the school's alarm system sounded at 10:30 p.m. and crews were sent to the high school to investigate. High School Principal Sean Vandeventer and Mitchell city utility workers also responded.
They found water in the lobby on the west side of the building and it was moving down the hallway to the library. The floor in the athletic director's office was also flooded. There was no water on the gym floor.
Crews were able to clean up the mess preventing any damage to the floors.
