(NASHVILLE) - A Brown County jury began hearing testimony Thursday in the trial of the former manager of the Little Nashville Opry who is charged with arson in connection with the September 19, 2009 blaze that destroyed the long-time country music venue.
Investigators allege 77-year-old James Bowyer of Morgantown set the fire in an attempt to claim $3 million in insurance money.
He and his companion, Little Nashville Opry owner Esther Hamilton, had accumulated huge debts from casino gambling.
Brown County Prosecutor Jim Oliver has predicted the trial may last two weeks.
