(SEYMOUR) - On Thursday night a stray tire lead to a vehicle winding up on its top.
According to Indiana State Police Trooper Matt Holley, just after 6 p.m. 69-year-old Kathleen Peterson of Columbus was traveling north on I-65 in Jackson County when her 2014 Toyota Corolla struck a spare tire in the roadway which caused the car to flip over onto its top.
The car skidded down the interstate approximately 300 feet still on its top before coming to stop in the left lane. Peterson, who suffered cuts and bruises, had to be freed from the vehicle by Seymour firefighters and then was transported Schneck Medical Center in Seymour suffering from cuts and bruises.
According to witness statements, a black 4 X 4 pickup truck apparently lost its spare tire from below the bed and continued traveling northbound. The driver of the truck likely didn't realize he had lost the tire.
Anyone who may have information regarding the truck is urged to contact Trooper Holley at the ISP Versailles Post 812-689-5000.
Trooper Holley was assisted at the scene by Jackson County Sheriff's Department and Seymour Fire Department.
