(LINTON) - A woman who was driving her vehicle in the wrong lane of a highway in Linton wound up in the Greene County Jail late Sunday night.
The Greene County Daily World reports that 52-year-old Andrea L. Shields of Jasonville was driving a 1998 Jeep Cherokee when she was stopped for traveling east in the westbound lane of State Road 54 East in Linton around 9:45 p.m. Sunday.
Det. Sgt. Josh Goodman of the Linton Police Department says Shields was all the way across the turning lane and was completely in the westbound lane, and she continued to travel in the wrong lane when he stopped her vehicle.
Goodman says it took a while before Shields noticed the lights and sirens of the police vehicle, before she finally pulled over near the Linton City Park.
Goodman believed Shields was intoxicated and transported her to the Linton Police Department for field sobriety tests. She failed the first two tests and refused to complete the third but she did consent to a chemical test.
Following the tests, Shields was arrested and taken to jail on a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
LPD Officers Chad Crynes and Jason Wilson assisted on the scene.
