(BEDFORD) - Lawrence County Project Coordinator Bob Dillon told the Lawrence County Commissioners that work is continuing on Bridge 70 on Mount Pleasant Road.
Duke Energy crews removed three large Sycamore trees that were near power lines. Crews are now clearing the area so they can begin work on the embankments.
Dillon says the goal is to take the 3-section bridge and re-align it, making it a one-span bridge eliminating the piers that catch all kinds of debris.
Dillon says the road will remain open during the bridge construction, except for short periods of time when the beams will be set. Dillon hopes to have construction done this Spring.
