(UNDATED) - The Hoosier Hills Food Bank Families First Mobile Food Pantry that was rescheduled to Tuesday, February 4 has been cancelled due to impending bad weather.
The next monthly mobile pantry will take place on the normally scheduled fourth Tuesday, February 25th.
If they are able to do so, Bedford clients are encouraged to visit the food bank's mobile pantry in
Shoals on Monday, February 1 or in Orleans on Thursday, February 13 until the program can return to Bedford.
"We reluctantly decided that we had to cancel but we're encouraging clients to visit one of our mobile pantries in the other communities or one of the other food pantries in Bedford. Information on other Bedford food pantries is available on our website, www.hhfoodbank.org, or by calling us at 812-334-8374," said HHFB Director of Programs Casey Steury.
HHFB Executive Director Julio Alonso said the decision to cancel was not made lightly.
"The forecast is for heavy snow and ice on Tuesday and we have to consider the safety of the clients, our staff, our vehicles and our host sites. As much as we are reluctant to cancel, we have to be safe. Unfortunately, rescheduling is not an option so we have to go with the next regular date."
