(SPRINGVILLE) - Joseph Smith, 28, of Mitchell, died Friday from injured he suffered after his car flipped on State Road 58 this morning.
According to an Indiana State Police report, Smith was on his way home from work and the wreck was discovered at 7:56 a.m.
Two conservation officers were driving on State Road 58, on their way to a training session, when one of the officers saw a red 2002 Pontiac upside down at the foot of a small hill.
Troopers are not sure when the accident happened.
Police say Smith was driving east on State Road 58, about 8,000 feet east of Armstrong Station Road, when the car went off the south side of the road, hit two trees and then rolled into a ditch at the bottom of a hill.
Traffic was backed up on State Road 58 for about an hour.
Assisting at the scene were officers with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Lawrence County Police Department, Perry Township Volunteer Fire Department and Seals.
